Rapid Photo Downloader
If you take a lot — or even just a few — photos and use Linux, then you need Rapid Photo Downloader (RPD). I've been using it for years, and although Nextcloud and Gwenview can copy and sort your photos, they don't come close to RPD.
I have found — through bitter experience — that it is better not to rename photos. Much easier to work out if you have copies if you keep the same file name. But when it comes to sorting into folders and tagging photos, RPD is great.
There is more about it here, homepage and download instructions from the Home Page. The version in the Ubuntu software archives seems to be a bit out of date. The installation script has worked flawlessly for me, though.
