The genius about SugarCRM though isn't really in the software, or even in the fact that it's open source. What ultimately has the potential to give this software a long life is the market the company has created around its product. Not only are developers making careers out of modifying SugarCRM to solve various data management problems in organizations, but entire companies are being sustained on the increasing demand for implementing and modifying the system and for teaching people how to use it.

Oram thinks customers will like that Azure makes it easy to move both an application and data between an in-house data center and Microsoft's. While SugarCRM supports both MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server, it runs SQL Azure in Microsoft's cloud. Oram says companies will take advantage of that compatibility. "You can opt to run SugarCRM on premises, keeping your data private, then decide to migrate to a SaaS strategy with very little engineering effort," he says

Sugar 6 the new edition of software-as-a-service SugarCRM's customer relationship management package entered a public beta test program on April 13. The open source CRM package includes a revamped user interface that is designed for faster navigation with simplified one-click access to most features and a completely rewritten mobile connectivity application.
