Backup and Recovery

A widely quoted statistic — which I cannot find a source for — is that 80% of businesses that loose their data fail within 18 months. It may be an urban legend (the comments on this post leave me wondering), but it would certainly be a problem. Imagine the worst case — your office burns down, or you just fry all your computers. All the physical stuff can be replaced, software can be re-installed.

But what about the data.

All your customer information, their purchase histories, contact details and dog's names would be lost. With the natural tendancy of important data to migrate to the most fragile device, even the loss of a cell phone or PDA can cause problems.

A good backup and recovery plan is insurance against finding out just how bad this could be.

eBox Backup ServiceThe eBox-platform includes a backup program, and eBox Technologies - the company behind eBox - offer an offsite backup service for eBox.

It easy to set up, with most of the configuration built into the platform's web based administration application, and offers scheduled full and incremental backups for about €5 per month.
